What To Do Before an Orioles Game
Jul 26, 2017 - 2 minute read
Orioles Park at Camden Yards is often regarded as one of the nicest stadiums in baseball. Being a retro-style urban stadium, the architecture has influenced the construction of many baseball parks since it was opened in 1992. While the stadium is full of great memories, it is right in the middle of Baltimore history.
Before this beautiful ballpark was built, the area was the hub of the region’s rail industry. The tall brick building beyond the right field wall was the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Warehouse, which is now full of several restaurants and shops. This gorgeous building can be seen from nearly any seat, and so can downtown Baltimore. For those who want to get the game started right, that is where they’ll want to be coming from.
Beer Before the Game
There’s nothing like a beer or two before the game, it’s a fact, and Baltimore has plenty of places to grab one. One of the best places to have a drink before first pitch is Alewife, which is a sports bar that was originally a bank. The atmosphere is tough to beat, and the draft list is out of this world.
Brew With a Crew
Going to a game with a group of friends is always a recipe for a great time, and Pratt Street Ale House is a great way to kick off the fun. House-made craft beers, delicious wings and sandwiches, and an outdoor patio, this brewpub is sure to get the party started. Bring some friends to this local hot-spot early before a game and feast!
A Classic
Pickles Pub is a game day classic. Established in 1988, this bar is great for families and friends who are looking to have fun before the game. This is the #1 place for sports fans to watch their favorite teams for 25 years, and it will continue to be at the top. With drink and food specials on game days, and Orioles attire everywhere, it is impossible to not enjoy yourself.
Being that Camden Yards is in such a great location, there are plenty of places to go before each game. For those fans who are looking to have a sit-down meal, places like Miss Shirley's Cafe is a great brunch spot, while Phillips Seafood is a top spot for crab cakes, crab soup, and much more. Tailgating isn’t allowed at the ballpark, so it is wise to get an early start and take part in block party-like pregame festivities.
